Within the Forgotten Realms, on the island country of Aeliorn, every man, woman and child harnesses the ability to use magic. Every being - save for the Kheistan family, who long ag were cursed without mana. After his father, who had been in the Kingsguard of the King of Aeliorn was murdered for being 'different,' Aven Kheistan found himself on the street struggling to survive. Pulled into the savage world of being a slave in a gladiatorial arena in the capital of Aeliorn, Aven made a name for himself alongside his ferocious lion companion. Everyone knew the name Beast Tamer. His infamy and notoriety attracted the attention of Prince Lucian Arceneaux, who purchased Aven and brought him on as his personal attendant and slave.
Lucian is the son of Aimeric and Estelle Arceneaux. The two beloved royals were cut down and murdered on the road whilst the three traveled to another province and Lucian was left the orphaned heir to Aeliorn. Currently under the firm control of Lucian's uncle, Darrien - the young Prince was victim to manipulation in his vulnerability. Years of abuse turned Lucian cold, arrogant and uncaring. Darrien's plans to use the Prince disintegrated due to the fact that Lucian no longer heeded the advice of anyone - including his uncle.
Soon after purchasing Aven, Darrien informed Lucian that he was to sail from Aeliorn in his first international diplomatic mission - to the city of Athkatla. Naive to his uncle's murderous intention, he departed from Aeliorn and embarked to Amn. But no one had anticipated the strength and skill of the Prince's new slave.
When the ship carrying Lucian and Aven was raided by pirates who intended to capture the Prince and sell them to a slave market, the two are forced to work together to free themselves, survive in this strange, foreign land and begin to build an army that will one day allow them to return to Aeliorn, take back their home and undo Darrien's dark deeds. Little do they know - a threat far worse than the Regent waits.
About Captured Hearts
Captured Hearts is a 3.5 Dungeons & Dragons campaign that the writers have novelized. Each of us held a host of npcs and would trade off DMing following the main storyline. Here's some tidbits about the story, as well as possible trigger warnings!

Captured Hearts is inspired by Captive Prince and shares many similarities - though the plot and direction of the stories both go in very different directions. You may find some Captive Prince ‘easter eggs’ here and there as well as nods to that amazing series as well as Dragon Age.

The campaign takes place on a homebrew continent in the Forgotten Realms setting called Aeliorn.

There are mature themes that take place in this campaign, including and not limited to: gore, torture, sexual encounters, sexual abuse, drug use and alcoholism.

We aren’t looking for any suggestions! This is merely a novelized version of our campaign that we thought would be fun to write and all of our ideas are already set in stone.

We have homebrew rules set in place for our campaign and as such you may find the mechanics of the game working differently. (For example, wizards and sorcerers are the same thing, and don’t draw power from spellbooks but from their own ‘mana’, as well as the fact that all people have ‘mana’ but only mages can control it.)

We have been playing the 3.5 edition.

All characters used in Captured Hearts are our own personal characters. Please refrain from using them anywhere. Our art is custom, their personalities are custom, and their stories are custom no matter the nods or links to the mentioned book series. We would appreciate it if the characters depicted in this story remain unused!
